Strange Conversations

As we are getting ready to leave:
Me: Grif. Put your shoes on.
Me: Put your shoes on!
Me: PUT YOUR SHOES ON!
Grif: I can't! My butt hurts!
What does that have to do with putting on his shoes?

In the morning:
Grif: Moooommmy! I'm ready to wake up! (yes, he stays in bed until we get him up still. It's awesome)
Steph walks to his room and opens the door to him laughing hysterically.
Grif: Did you hear that?
Steph: No, what?
Grif: I farted in the monitor. It was so loud!

In the car:
Grif:  I love Gus, but his breath STINKS!

Watching the dogs:
Grif: You know how he pees?  ....  With his leg up.
(Yes, our dog is male, but he still squats, so this apparently is a novelty for Grif)

At Home:
Steph:  If you only eat cheese, you are going to be constipated.
Grif:  Whats constipated?
Steph: Its when your poop is stuck.
Me: Yeah, and eventually you'll get all backed up and poop will come out your mouth.
Grif:  If I poop out my mouth, then mommy will have to wipe my mouth.


On the way back from vacation shortly after we stopped for breakfast at McD's (Grif got a sausage McGriddle)
Rustling in the back seat
Me(driving):  What does Leyton have?  Sounds like a bag over his head or something.  
Steph: He has Griffin's Mcgriddle.  How did he get that?
Grif: Hey!  Thats mine!  I set it on the cup holder!
Leyton ate about half of one of the buns.  He was quite pleased with himself.

Public Service Announcement:
The last several videos that I posted did not upload correctly and consequently nobody could view them.  (stupid youtube glitch....  definitely not user error....  well, maybe not... okay, okay, I mucked it all up!)  Anyhow, I "fixed the glitch", so hopefully all is well now.  Check out the last several posts for properly functioning video hilarity (yes that is a word and yes, I looked it up to verify).

Strange Conversations

At Kmart shopping for a new table:
Griffin: Dad! I have something to show you.  Its really heavy.

(Walks over to me with a gigantic Imaginext toy set above*)
Me: Wow Griffin, that is really cool, but we aren't here to buy toys, we need a new patio table.
Grif:  Awwww, but I really want it.
Me:  Well, I know a certain little boy that has a birthday coming up and he just might get something like this if he's lucky.
Griffin(whining):  Ohhh, but I want it!
Me:  Do you know the little boy that I am talking about?
Griffin (pouting):  I don't know, Noah maybe?
Me:  Who do you know that has a birthday coming up?
Griffin: ........
Me:  How about you?
Griffin (all smiles):  Yeah, Me!  Can we get it now, I don't want to wait.


*As a side note to those who have, or may be getting him a birthday present, we have not purchased this for him.

Shattered

Had a pretty nasty storm Tuesday night and woke up to this.

This wouldn't have happened if we hadn't got that umbrella to go with the table.  Stupid unstable free umbrella....muttering...expletive...

Gimme Three Steps

Leyton took his first steps last night!  He walked three steps from Steph to me in the play room.  I was really excited about this.  We both got to witness Griffin's first steps and after a week of vacation trying unsuccessfully coax Leyton to walk, I was sure he'd do it when I wasn't around.

Unfortunately, we didn't capture it on video, but not for lack of effort!

Ambush!

Griffin and his buddy Andrew were tooling around taunting people in his Gator at Leyton's birthday party.  Monster Grandpa decided to show them who is boss.  I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Leyton's Birthday Party Extravaganza!

We had about 50 people at the house this weekend melting outside for Leyton's first birthday party.  Loads of pics to follow:

We had a slip and slide, baby pool, and Monster Grandpa & Uncle Jamie manning the squirt guns (these were supposed to be for the kids, but is anybody really surprised?)

I designed a killer golf game for the party that would rival a Jack Nicklaus course.  Not seen at the bottom of the hill is a bullseye that I painted with orange marking paint, a 5-gallon bucket in the middle, complete with sand trap and water hazard.  Caution tape to keep the kids from getting a club to the head, and a white board to keep score.  Sweet.  Lookin' good Tim and Nice Grandpa!

Ski Lift Ride

Griffin and I took a ride up the ski lift at the place we stayed on vacation in Virginia.

He biffed running from the lower lift to the upper lift.  

 We saw some diggers on the way up.  He was pretty excited about this.

Picture at the top of the mountain.  This trail was 4 miles long to the lookout.  We walked about 200' and Griffin said he was tired. 

Leyton is 1!

Leyton turns one today.

As an early birthday present, Griffin rammed Leyton's stroller (with him in it) with his tricycle knocking it over.  Leyton landed face down and was less than amused.  Mommy was even more upset.  There doesn't seem to be any permanent damage.  He has a bruise near his ear.

Ah, brotherly love.  Brings me back to my youth....
